What is Somatic Therapy and is it right for ME?

Body, mind, and emotions are inseparable.

Somatic Therapy treats your whole self using a combination of touch and talk therapy.

Somatic Therapy is based in exploring the body, emotional work, somatic experiencing and present talk therapy practices. Clients are allowed to surface, self realize and actualize, sessions are cooperative and creative. Our goal is to explore habits, beliefs, holding patterns, physical manifestations, emotional handling, limitations and possibilities of change and improvement in ways that are long lasting and integrative.

What can this help ME with?

If you answer YES to anything below, this therapy can help you.

Do you want more confidence in yourself, do ever feel unseen?

Are you taking more care of others, than of yourself?

Do you need to set up boundaries but struggle with it?

Do you struggle managing some emotions? - Do you hate to cry, or hate conflict?

Would you like to live more mindfully in the present tense ?

Do you need help letting go of trauma(s) and trauma responses?

Do you feel stuck, trapped or uninspired often?

Are you looking to individualize yourself and better understand you?

Are you having difficulty handling stress, anxiety, or change?

Do you want to improve relationships with yourself and with others?

Is there a chronic or recurring pain that you suffer from?

Do wonder if how you grew up is affecting you still?

How Somatic Therapy works

Your body is an imprint of your collective experiences, as a living and changing human being. Your story, history and emotions are all part of your body in active and adaptive ways. Trauma, fear, clarity, authenticity and the capacity for change are within. By resourcing the embodied senses, emotional expressions and communicating with the nervous system directly, Somatic Therapy helps you explore all of you.

We are designed for safety, protection and survival, the body cannot distinguish physical and emotional danger nor can your nervous system differentiate what is happening now, and what has happened in the past. Sometimes we think something though feel differently. We bridge that divide by listening, and understanding how your feelings are trying to keep you safe. This connection of mind and body allows you to move forward no longer divided but as one whole.

With the combination of touch and talk we incorporate not just the thinking mind, but the subconscious, sense of self and the emotions within. This therapy is very collaborative, self realizing and self actualizing. Touch makes this a therapy you really feel

All sessions are fully clothed - both seated and laying on a padded table. To learn more please visit the “About Somatic Therapy” page and “Resources” for literature, blogs and videos.
